New hotels to put Bahrain on global tourism map

BAHRAIN aims to build a first-of-its-kind tourist city in the Southern Governorate spanning over 5.7 million square metres.

It features five-star properties, housing projects, commercial districts and high-quality facilities to attract tourists from across the world.

It also includes an integrated entertainment city in addition to housing units and high-quality facilities that meet the needs of the family.

Details of the project were revealed yesterday by Mumtalakat chief executive Khalid Al Rumaihi during a Press briefing held at the Arcapita headquarters in Bahrain Bay.

“Five new hotels will be opened across Bahrain including the Address Marassi Al Bahrain Hotel and The Address Residences in close proximity to luxury shops and stunning sea views,” he said.

“The hotel will have 10 floors and 117 rooms – including 20 luxurious suites – in addition to business facilities, a spa, a sports centre, swimming pools and a gaming area.

“The Address Residences comprises a commercial complex, a waterfront wide walkway as well as residential facilities that consist of 10 floors and 155 residences which is directly connected to Marassi Galleria.”

Mr Al Rumaihi said that the project is expected to open in February next year.

Other new hotels include Vida Marassi Al Bahrain Hotel and Vida Residences which both include luxurious restaurants and a spa as well as an outdoor swimming pool which are set to open next month.

“The resort – which includes 157 rooms – is located next to the waterfront and has been designed in a modern and innovative way to form an urban centre for the next generation of residences while including entertainment and communication technologies,” he added.

“There are 145 residential apartments in Vida Residences and both properties are connected to Marassi Galleria and are steps away from multiple facilities found at Marassi Al Bahrain.”

Brands

Marassi Galleria cover an area of 200,000sqm within the Marassi Al Bahrain and is planned to include a wide variety of prominent international brands.

It will be the first commercial complex in the region with sea views and will provide visitors with direct access to the beach and waterfront promenade – which is projected to be opened in September 2022.

“Bilaj Al Jazayer – which was called the tourist city in the southwest of Bahrain – is considered one of the most important projects that enhance the position of Bahrain on the global tourism map,” said Mr Al Rumaihi.

“The first phase includes public beaches and a walkway as well as vital recreational, residential and tourism elements.

“The project also has Avani and Tivoli hotels and has also won an award for the best project in the entertainment sector in Bahrain and was nominated for the best project in the entertainment sector in the Arab region.”

Meanwhile, the Jumairah Bahrain Bay Resort – which will be opened in the second quarter of next year – is located in the southwest coast of Bahrain.

It includes 207 rooms, two beaches, five swimming pools, a health club, a water channel in addition to entertainment games, restaurants and cafés in addition to other attractions.

“The new Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre – in Sakhir – is considered the largest exhibition and conference city in the Middle East and it will be one of the most important strategic and vital projects that enhance Bahrain’s ability to attract major events.

“It will include 10 exhibition halls equipped with the latest facilities as well as a conference centre equipped with the most advanced display facilities with a capacity to accommodate around 4,000 people.

“The project is expected to be completed in the last quarter of next year.”
