NBB wins sustainability awards from Global Finance
The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has been awarded the Best Bank for Sustainability Finance in Bahrain award from Global Finance’s Sustainable Finance Awards 2022, and has once more been recognised for Outstanding Leadership in Sustainability Transparency on a regional level by the esteemed organisers.
The accolades acknowledge the bank’s ongoing efforts in implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices across its operations.
In line with NBB’s mission to extend beyond its core business, the bank has strived to improve its environmental performance by taking action to minimise its environmental impact and reduce its carbon footprint.
The awards recognise NBB’s commitment towards reaching its ESG targets throughout the year, achieving its mission to develop in a sustainable manner, and promote transparency internally and externally.
Following the integration of its Sustainability Framework, NBB launched a number of initiatives honouring its commitment towards enacting its seven key pillars. The bank introduced exclusive financing for customers interested in installing solar energy panels as well as an auto loan solution with special rates for hybrid/electric vehicles, to name a few.
The bank’s Environmental Policy has set the foundation for its Environmental Management Framework, governing NBB’s main environmental activities by assessing its current performance, which has led to vast improvement in its environmental impact.
In accordance with its ESG efforts, NBB successfully passed the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) certification which seeks to manage the bank’s environmental impact, risks and opportunities to protect the environment in which it operates.
Commenting on the occasion, Jean-Christophe Durand, chief executive of NBB, said: “We are proud of our continuous efforts to become a fully sustainable organisation achieving inclusivity for all stakeholders.
