NBB push to issue eco-friendly cards

The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has collaborated with Sinnad, a card processing and payment service provider, to issue recycled PVC plastic cards to its customers.

This follows the bank’s decision to start transitioning NBB’s daily operations to include more eco-friendly practices.

In line with its commitment to reducing its annual carbon footprint and plastic waste, NBB will make use of Sinnad’s value added services to launch its recycled credit and prepaid cards.

Commenting, Shadi Barakat, head of card business at NBB, said: “NBB has been on a steadfast journey towards integrating environmentally conscious practices at the core of our operations. As such, our collaboration with Sinnad as the sole card procurement provider, will enable us to further expand our environmentally-friendly initiatives and support the kingdom in meeting its net-zero aspirations and the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals.”

Hasan Mohamed, head of business support at Sinnad, stated: “We are pleased to extend our collaboration with a leading institution such as NBB. Through this partnership we will provide cards manufactured from recycled materials that will significantly contribute to reducing plastic waste and carbon emissions.”
