Most-funded startups

Forbes Middle East has released its annual list of Mena’s Top 50 most-funded startups, including three Bahrain-headquartered companies.

They are ‘Rain cryptocurrency trading platform’, ‘Tarabut Gateway’, Mena’s first and largest regulated open banking platform and ‘Foodtech Calo’ which provides personalised meal subscription plans to health-conscious customers, with a total funding of $169.5 million.

The Rain platform ranked sixth as the most funded startup in the region with an amount of $118m. Calo came 38th, raising a total funding of $25.5m, while Tarabut Gateway ranked 41st securing $25m.

Fintechs reign this year, with 21 companies attracting $1.3 billion in total funding, followed by 10 e-commerce players with $576.7m, four delivery and mobility startups with $299.6m, and three logistics firms with $292m.
