MEDICAL MILESTONE: King launches hi-tech hospital for infectious diseases
MANAMA: A new specialist hospital for infectious diseases is to be set up in Bahrain to deal with national and regional medical challenges, His Majesty King Hamad said yesterday.
The medical milestone will bear the names of all those who supported the Feena Khair campaign – a national fundraiser to help the country battle the Covid-19 pandemic – in recognition of their efforts that reflect the true mettle of Bahrainis in times of adversity, he said.
His Majesty was addressing, via a video link, the inauguration ceremony of the third session of the fifth legislative term.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, attended the ceremony remotely.
The King stressed the importance of drawing up plans to achieve health security and provide premium services to pre-empt medical emergencies.
He reiterated Bahrain’s support to the Arab Peace Initiative and settle the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution, which would strengthen global security and peace.
