Major forum set to focus on proptech

MANAMA: The Economic Development Board (EDB) in partnership with HexGn is gearing up for the first GCC PropTech Time summit to be held next Tuesday.

The event is being sponsored by industry stalwart Diyar Al Muharraq and will also see the support of powerhouses – RICS, JLL and Arabnet as partners.

The EDB is helping make the country a propelling ecosystem for technology businesses, which is to be reckoned with in Middle East and North Africa.

It has established itself as the initial supporting entity for start-ups and investors who want to revel in the benefits that Bahrain has to offer.

EDB extends its support in a number of areas that makes setting up a business in Bahrain a smooth process.

Known as the gateway to the Mena region, the country presents all the right elements for the making of a successful proptech segment.

“With over a trillion dollars in construction project pipeline, the Middle East offers untapped opportunities for proptech players, and Bahrain offers the entry point for such ventures,” said Ali Ghulam Murtaza, director of real estate, proptech, tourism and leisure investment development at EDB.

The event will bring together leading experts in the real estate and proptech sector for a day-long symposium on technology adoption in real estate – the opportunities and the challenges.

The event will also be a platform to develop business relationships, and will offer an opportunity to interact with international high-tech companies.

Participants from 20 different countries from the different pillars of the real estate sector: the government, developers, occupiers, investors and technology are expected to attend this event.

The event will also see the release of HexGn’s research report highlighting the readiness of the industry segments for technology adoption, and bridge the gap by comprehensively communicating the need of the real estate and the proptech industry in order to develop a tech-enabled sector in the future.

Jappreet Sethi, the chief executive of HexGn said, “Real estate as an industry is yet to adopt technology at the level that other traditional industries have. Bahrain has taken the right steps to create opportunities for technology companies and real estate players to engage meaningfully. The GCC PropTech Time 2019 will be an ideal platform to aid in this endeavour and will fire up the growth of proptech in the region.”

The GCC PropTech Summit 2019 has been designed with multiple purposes in mind: learning, collaborating and growing. It will see the participation of over 100 people and 20 speakers.
