LMRA outlines new contingency plans

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has outlined contingency work procedures which come into effect today.

It announced the new procedures as part of precautionary measures being undertaken to combat the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19), urging applicants to use its electronic services.

The regulatory authority will be delivering its services at the main headquarters and branches, during the work days, from 8am until 3pm.

Short messages (SMS) and emails have been sent to applicants, updating them about the new measures.

Applicants are being urged to process their transactions online via the Expat Management System (EMS), the e-support platform to reduce their presence at the main headquarters and other branches.

Applicants are also urged to book appointments in advance in case their transactions require them to be present personally. Employers of domestic workers don’t need to make an appointment in advance.

Applicants are requested to get updated about the electronic services on www.lmra.bh or call LMRA contact centre on phone number: 17506055.

Meanwhile, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) is also assisting all government entities with their transition to remote work.

The iGA will provide access to Microsoft Teams, a unified communication platform, to effectively manage virtual teams, alongside publishing instructions to optimise the use of all features, including visual and audio conferencing, chats, and a file-sharing.

The iGA will also provide remote employees with access to the Government Data Network via remote Secure Socket Layer Virtual Private Network, which safeguards against security threats.
