Labor Minister stresses collecting and distributing Zakat Al-Fitr through electronic platforms only

Manama, Apr. 13 (BNA): Labor and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan stressed that Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)s and charitable societies must continue to apply all precautionary measures and instructions issued in advance regarding the obligation not to set up breakfast tables for fasting people during the holy month in places, in addition to replacing the kiosks for collecting and distributing Zakat Al-Fitr with electronic platforms and applications only.

This came in implementation of the decisions of the Coordinating Committee headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the recommendations of The National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus, and within the national efforts to preserve the health of and the safety of everyone during the holy month.

The minister pointed out that the ministry has taken many initiatives and measures to ensure that NGOs obtain licenses to collect money electronically, since 2017, to facilitate the process of electronic cash donation without harming any community groups benefiting from the donations during the holy month.
