Kingdom to host major infectious diseases forum
BAHRAIN is set to host a major medical conference on infectious diseases later this year.
The Bahrain International Conference of Antimicrobial Resistance and Infectious Diseases, expected to bring together experts from the GCC, Arab region, the US and Europe, will be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Health president Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa on September 21 and 22.
“The conference is aimed at discussing what has been achieved in science regarding antibiotic resistant microbes and infectious diseases,” said conference chairwoman and Shura Council member Dr Jameela Al Salman.
In a statement she added that the organising committee will set up various panels as part of preparations for the conference.
Advanced scientific papers will be discussed during the conference along with sharing expertise and knowledge followed by scientific recommendations that reflect the development of the health sector.
Discussions include antimicrobial resistance, management of an outbreak, strengthening the region’s preparedness for pandemics, travel medicine, emerging and re-emerging diseases, HIV challenges in the region and other topics.
