Key projects worth millions of dinars lined-up

Major projects worth millions of dinars are being lined-up under an amended state budget.

The new 2021-2022 national budget, set for a vote during Parliament's weekly session on Tuesday, includes the continuation of expansion work at Bahrain International Airport to reach a planned 14 million-passenger capacity.

It will include building a new air traffic control building and the provision of a state-of-the-art automatic aircraft landing system.

Shura Council financial and economic affairs committee chairman Khalid Al Maskati said Bahrain was continuing its commitment for progress.

"The new major projects included in the state budget reflect that there is a clear vision from the leadership for development not to be hindered for any circumstance, even with the impact that Covid-19 has had on the world," he told the GDN.

Parliament financial and economic affairs committee chairman Mahmood Al Bahrani said a stable budget reflects a positive economic drive. "The $10bn GCC Development Fund and the BD20bn Financial Support Package given to us by three Gulf States is ensuring our country develops without any setbacks in intended targets."
