Jobs boost for expatriates in Bahrain

A TOTAL of 582,674 expatriates were employed in Bahrain by the end of the fourth quarter of last year.

It constitutes an increase of 9.9pc compared with the same period in 2021, when 530,159 migrants were employed in the country, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) said.

According to statistics published by the authority on its website, 163,471 Bahrainis were employed by the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, representing an annual growth rate of 3.4pc compared with 158,029 workers in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The LMRA issued 40,591 new work permits, 2,940 investor permits and 6,606 for dependents during the period.

The median monthly wage for Bahrainis during the fourth quarter of last year was BD558, a 1.3pc increase compared with BD551 during the same period in 2021.
