Investcorp launches Nemir Kirdar Internship Programme

MANAMA: Investcorp, a Bahrain-based alternative investment firm, has launched the Nemir Kirdar Global Internship Programme, named in honour of Nemir Kirdar who founded Investcorp in 1982 and is often regarded as a “father of private equity”.

The internship is a 10-week programme aimed at providing university students across the US, Europe, the GCC and Asia with a thorough, well-rounded practical experience and learning opportunities across Investcorp’s product lines.

Nineteen university students will take part in this year’s programme across our offices in New York, Bahrain, Mumbai, and Beijing, where they will intern with Investcorp’s different lines of businesses, including private equity, credit management, financial management, business support, legal and compliance and corporate and investment accounting.

Commenting on the programme, Investcorp’s executive chairman Mohammed Alardhi, said: “At Investcorp, we are committed to education. Such initiatives are an essential opportunity to invest in future potential leaders by providing them with practical, hands-on experience. It is also an opportunity for us to learn from smart young minds who see the world in a different way. The benefits of these programmes are reciprocal, Nemir always encouraged fresh thinking and new ideas.”

Jordana Semaan, diversity, equity and inclusion champion and head of HR Gulf and Asia commented: “As part of our DEI initiatives at Investcorp, we continue to look at programs that focus on providing a myriad of learning opportunities to a wide range of talent across diverse backgrounds. We believe that through our Nemir Kirdar Global Internship Program, we can provide our young bright individuals with the exposure and valuable insight into working life to help shape and forge their future careers.”

The Nemir Kirdar Global Internship Program is expected to continue in future years and is part of the diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at Investcorp.

Investcorp will ensure that interns selected to join the Nemir Kirdar Global Internship Programme come from diverse backgrounds to complement our current DEI workforce.
