In France, the Sea Economy is three times bigger than the Automotive economy

According to a study done by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the Blue Economy (generated by the Sea activities) is worth 270 billion euros and represents 14% of the French GDP. However, this industry is almost absent in the presidential debates. It represents 820,000 jobs in the country but it seems that the potential of the seas and oceans remains unknown.

France imports 85% of its products from the sea, but the growth of this sector is only 1%. The main reason is the absence of technical and ecological development in this area. With its strategic geographic location, France should focus on the development of the Blue economy, orientating it to a Green economy.
