Home deliveries surge as people stay at home to combat Covid-19

Demand for home deliveries has grown recently as the government calls on people to stay at home as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus.

Deliveries include fruit and vegetables bought in grocery stores and hypermarkets, food ordered from restaurants, medicines and even gold jewellery.

A major home delivery company in Bahrain, in the past focusing on delivering food from restaurants to doorsteps across the kingdom, said that after the coronavirus outbreak, it delivers various consumer products to homes, the company’s marketing manager told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.

As a result, the company has added new list of food products centres and delivery pricelists and hired new employees to meet the increasing demands, he said.

The company provides delivery employees with sanitisers and masks in accordance with precautionary measures taken by the Health Ministry and other government bodies, he said. “We have also notified restaurants and companies we are dealing with to abide by such measures to protect public health,” he added.
