Help for needy doubled

Manama: The Premier yesterday gave the green light for doubling Bahrain’s welfare benefits budget.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa ordered a budget of BD5.5 million in social security benefits for 17,000 Bahraini families, to be disbursed this month.

The Premier also ordered a doubling of the disability pension, which benefits 12,000 people registered with the Labour and Social Development Ministry.

His directives came within the framework of his support for families and individuals with special needs on various occasions, including Ramadan.

Meanwhile, preparations to distribute the Prime Minister’s annual Ramadan gifts have started, as relevant officials began co-ordination with charity societies and funds.

A total of 100 tonnes of rice will be given to needy Bahraini families as part of the Prime Minister’s annual Ramadan grant.

Representatives of charity societies and funds extended heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Premier for his unwavering interest in supporting citizens and alleviating their burdens.

They paid tribute to the Prime Minister for enhancing Bahrain’s progress in various fields, in addition to his noble gestures towards citizens on various occasions.

They asserted that the Premier’s donations would support needy families during Ramadan, praying to Allah the Almighty to bless him with health and happiness.
