Government to shoulder 50pc of Bahrainis’ wages in affected sectors

The Cabinet has agreed to pay 50pc of Bahrainis' wages in the most affected sectors for three more months.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has tasked Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan to issue necessary rules in co-ordination with other relevant authorities for July, August and September.

It comes under a new minimised financial stimulus package that will continue electricity and water exemptions for three more months.

Tamkeen's Business Continuity Programme will also resume for three additional months under guidelines determined by its board.

It follows orders by His Majesty King Hamad following consultation with the National Assembly and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
