GCC health ministers pledge solidarity to fight Covid-19

THE GCC health ministers yesterday agreed to step up co-operation in combating the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

They adopted recommendations in this regard as they attended their fifth extraordinary meeting, which was held in Riyadh.

Health Minister Faeqa Al Saleh chaired the session, which was convened by GCC secretary general Dr Nayef Falah Mubarak Al Hajraf, to discuss Covid-19 developments and steps taken by member countries to combat the pandemic.

The meeting was held as the GCC marks the 40th anniversary of its establishment in 1981.

Ms Al Saleh praised the member states’ efforts to combat the pandemic and protect citizens and residents’ health.

Dr Al Hajraf stressed the importance of harnessing all efforts and means to combat the virus in order to return to normal life soon.

The session discussed many issues, including travel procedures between member countries, the Gulf guide for the uses of the Covid 19 vaccine, in addition to the study of the genetic sequence of Covid-19 samples.
