Future Energy: a French concept on show at Expo 2017 in Astana

At Expo 2017 in Astana from 10 June to 10 September 2017, France will invite the expected five million visitors to discover the best of France in its pavilion.

It will showcase innovations by the most prestigious French companies, as well as displaying French culture and art of living.

To internationally display its strong ambition to encourage more energy-efficient models and limit global warming, France will bring together in a 1,084m² pavilion (one of the largest in the exposition) major companies, start-ups, scientists, institutional actors and public figures, all of which place France at the forefront of energy issues.

The French Pavilion, over 1,000m² of French-made future energy

This showcase for French-made future energy is based around three areas in which French companies have vast expertise: sustainable cities, renewable energy and eco-compatible mobility.

The pavilion also gives the public an opportunity to view works by French artists, like photographs of iconic landscapes hanging on the exterior façades, a Marianne drawn by Yann Dalon and a “Mini Agua” by the sculptor Milène Guermont.

On the upper floor, a 200-seat auditorium will receive internationally renowned experts and enable debates and discussions on crucial issues for future generations.

France to the fore

Both in its own pavilion and on the Expo site, France will offer visitors an extensive programme of conferences and festivities.

21 June: France Day

Look back through 30 years of the Fête de la Musique with a series of festivities: cabarets, circus acts, and retro “boudoir” concerts will take place at the French Pavilion and the atrium. Traditional music from south-west France and Brittany will also be on offer. Finally, France Day will celebrate music via several French-music concerts, to be performed by students from the Kazakh National University of Arts in Astana.

A packed programme

In addition, throughout the summer, seminars, master classes and conferences will take place in the auditorium of the French Pavilion to give visitors a greater understanding of French innovation in the areas of energy, education, cultural action, Francophonie and the media.
