Frontliners Praised

MANAMA: Frontline medical workers have been praised for their humanitarian sacrifices to safeguard the health of the community.

Their efforts have been recognised internationally by organisations such as the World Health Organisation, the Cabinet said yesterday, stressing the importance for all to continue to follow all health measures and guidelines to ensure eradication of the coronavirus (Covid-19).

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the weekly meeting, held remotely.

The Cabinet discussed ongoing national efforts to combat the spread of the virus, led by the Crown Prince.

It praised the commitment of the kingdom’s citizens and residents to follow all health guidelines issued by the National Taskforce for Combating Covid-19, which has had a tangible, positive impact on reducing infection rates.

On the occasion of Bahraini Doctors’ Day, an initiative established by the Prime Minister, the Cabinet praised the role of Bahraini doctors and medical staff and their noble contributions.

l The Cabinet condemned the terrorist attack in Vienna. It expressed sincere condolences to the families of victims, wishing speedy recovery to those injured in the heinous terrorist act. The Cabinet highlighted Bahrain’s support for Austria in its efforts to combat terrorism, noting the importance of concerted efforts by the international community to eliminate terrorism and combat extremist organisations.

l The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between Bahrain and Israel on air services and authorised the minister concerned to sign it.

The agreement was referred to the ministerial committee for legal and legislative affairs, in light of a memorandum submitted for this purpose by the Transportation and Telecommunications Minister.
