French Growth In The Second Quarter Revised Up To 1.1% By INSEE

GDP remains 3.2% below its level in the fourth quarter of 2019.

In the second quarter of 2021, the gross domestic product (GDP) in volume recovered (+ 1.1%), indicates INSEE. This had remained stable in the previous quarter. GDP thus fills part of the gap remaining compared to its pre-crisis level: in volume, it is 3.2% lower than in the fourth quarter of 2019, against 4.3% in the two previous quarters.

INSEE initially announced, at the end of July, growth of 0.9% in the second quarter, already 0.2% higher than forecast. Bruno Le Maire then greeted “exceptional performance of the French economy“.
