France has never created as many companies
There were 554,000 new businesses in France in 2016, which is a record!
Last year, 554,000 companies were set up in France. That is an increase of 5.5% compared to 2015. It is both the highest figure and "the highest increase in six years", underlines INSEE. Indeed, since 2011, the statistics had never reached such heights.
The sectors with the largest number of creations are trade (97,000 creations), "specialized, scientific and technical activities" (90,000), in particular consultancy and support for companies, followed by construction (61,000), which Recorded a 3.5% fall.
The niches in which the creators were most dynamic were linked to the new economy, with the increase in home deliveries, in particular meals (Foodora, Deliveroo, etc.) and the growth of VTC platforms Famous Uber). These two types of activity account for almost half of the increase recorded.
Micro enterprise remains the legal form favored by entrepreneurs to launch their activity (222,000 registrations). But this figure is tending to stabilize. It is now the companies, notably the SAS (Simplified Joint Stock Companies), which are popular with start-ups, which have the number: the number registered last year (188,000) is the highest for at least ten years, The INSEE.
"This is very important because companies are more stable than micro-companies. This shows an aspiration to create stronger boxes, "welcomes Xavier Kergall, general manager of the Salon des Entrepreneurs, held in early February in Paris.
