Food start-ups try to obtain funding in Beban 2 episode
Five Bahraini entrepreneurs in the food sector will make a pitch for funding in the third episode of Beban 2 that goes on air today.
Maher Mahfoodh founded Suwalif Tea – a distributor of Sri Lankan blended tea leaves in locally designed packages; Kumail Rajab founded Jumami – a juice shop with five branches across Bahrain with a centralised kitchen model; Najeeba Busnan founded BON – a business specialised in importing and exporting coffee and accessories; Maryam Almansoori founded Jomon for Food – producer of alternative dairy products, such as vegan cheese, labneh, yogurt, and butter, and Ali Mahmood founded Jerar – a brand for herbs, spices, seasonings, and edible natural products are the select five start-ups that will try to convince investors to back their business plans.
They will present their ideas to a panel of investors comprising Roaya Saleh, president and founder of RS Management and owner and founder of Villa Mamas Restaurants; Khalid Al Amin, chief executive of Midway Food; and Moslem Asad, chief executive of Asad Sons.
The panel is moderated by Hope Fund chairman Aymen Almoayed, who also represents Hope Ventures’ investments.
Commenting, Khaled Alrayyes, manager of projects at Hope Ventures, said: “While this season’s episodes are not centred around specific business sectors, businesses pitching on episode 3 happen to all be from the food and beverages sector. Viewers will get to watch five businesses from the kingdom in pitching before a panel of expert investors for equity investment and strategic business opportunities.”
Powered by The Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding), Beban season 2 was filmed in Al Areen Palace and Spa by Accor.
