Finance and National Economy Minister highlights budget goals
Manama, Dec.9, (BNA): Citizens are the main focus of all development plans, programmes and initiatives, said Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.
He affirmed that citizen's interest always comes first, which contributes to achieving further progress and prosperity in accordance with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He said that continued social support for the citizens most in need is one of the main pillars that were focused on during the preparation of the state's general budget for the two fiscal years (2021-2022) in a way that meets the aspirations of citizens.
“The draft budget law and the general framework on which the budget was approved, takes into account sustained work to achieve the objectives of the fiscal balance programme and the Government Action Plan (2019-2022)”, he saidHe said that Government started rationalising the efficiency of services in a way that contributes to achieving economic recovery and creating more promising opportunities for citizens.
He indicated that he will continue working to improve the efficiency of government services and develop their working mechanism in a way that contributes to achieving the aspirations and the desired goals.
The minister held a meeting remotely via videoconference with editors’ in chief of local newspapers and briefed them about the general budget for the two fiscal years 2021-2022.
“A mechanism has been adopted in preparing the budgets of ministries and government agencies, reviewing all operating and administrative expenses items, and reassessing their levels in accordance with average expenditures and spending units, so that the allocated budgets are in line with basic needs”, he said.
The Minister of Finance and National Economy expressed thanks to the legislative branch for its positive cooperation, which contributed to achieving more fruitful achievements that are in the interest of the country and citizens.
He commended the dedicated national efforts exerted by the local newspapers, describing them a key partner that reflects development efforts at all levels and contributes to achieving further progress and prosperity for the Kingdom of Bahrain.
