FCCIB Webinar on the 'Contribution of Urban Farming to Food Security' with Unanime Architectes Gulf
FCCIB organized a webinar on Thursday 14 May, 2020 with Mr. Didier GARCIN, Associate Director at Unanime Architectes and Mr. Pierre SFEIR, General Manager at Unanime Architectes Gulf, as guest speakers on the topic: ‘Contribution of Urban Farming to Food Security' and its application to Bahrain.
Mr. Dider GARCIN started the webinar by highlighting the stakes of urban farming, among which a reduction of carbon emissions, economic growth, public health and food quality & security, emphasizing on the food safety figures in the GCC and in Bahrain.
Mr. Pierre SFEIR focused on the expertise of the different stakeholders in Bahrain that could bring this project of urban farming together. These stakeholders are Unanime Architecte, Next Energy, Agrosolutions, Invivo, FUL and the leader in distribution Carrefour Bahrain. Mr Sfeir presented the project ‘Nabta’ which is bringing together hydroponic agricultural technology with urban planning, using renewable energy and forming residential resorts as well as commercial area.
Mr. GARCIN concluded the presentation highlighting the business model and some indicative numbers.
The webinar was followed by a lively Q&A with relevant and interesting interventions from the participants, both FCCIB Members and guests ofUnanime Architectes Gulf.
