Events ban to be lifted

MANAMA: Holding special events and activities will be allowed again from Sunday, subject to Health Ministry regulations.

Regulatory decisions to this effect will be published on Thursday in the Official Gazette, and implementation will be subject to continuous evaluation, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority said last night.

It said the move has been made in co-ordination with the ministries of Health, Interior and Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

Events for more than 30 people will require a special licence issued by the BTEA through a special service to be launched on its website on Sunday.

It will also be mandatory for such events, whether held indoors or outdoors, to have a nurse present.

Covid negative test certificates, valid for 48 hours, will have to submitted for all those attending.

The total number of people attending should not exceed 150 for each licensed event, the authority said.
