ENERGY PUSH: New chairmen for Bapco and Tatweer

Abdulla Jehad Al Zain has been appointed as chairman of Bapco’s board of directors.

His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and chairman of the board of directors of the Oil and Gas Holding Company Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa approved an edict on restructuring the board of directors of Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), wholly owned by the Oil and Gas Holding Company.

Under the edict, Mark Thomas has been appointed deputy chairman.

Abdulrahman Jawahery, a Bahraini oil, gas and petrochemicals experts has been appointed Bapco’s chief executive.

Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the Oil and Gas Holding Company will continue to strengthen its operational companies, noting that the formation of Bapco’s board of directors will enable the company to carry on its development, wishing the new board every success.

Yousif Abdullah Hamoud, Yousif Abdulla Taqi, Dr Ashok Krishna, Said Hussain Abdulrahman and Ahmed Yousif Talib were appointed board members for a two-year term that begins from the date of issuance of the edict.

Shaikh Nasser also approved an edict on restructuring the board of directors of Tatweer Petroleum Company (Tatweer).

Under the edict, Faisal Mohammed Al Mahroos shall be the chairman of its board of directors.

Mark Thomas, Mazin Mohammed Mattar, Ali Habib Qassim, Gassan Ali Al Mehanna and Isa Ali Janahi were appointed as members of the board for a two-year term, starting from the date of issuance of the edict.

Shaikh Nasser stressed the importance of activating the role of the oil and gas sectors in supporting the economy, in accordance with the Economic Vision 2030, noting that the efforts of Tatweer Petroleum Company will yield more achievements.

He wished Tatweer’s new board of directors every success in supporting the kingdom’s economic march. He also hailed the company’s strategic role in the sustainable economic development of the oil and gas sectors.
