Emergency plans ‘ready for relief projects’

BAHRAIN will always have an emergency relief plan to assist affected nations in less than 24 hours, stated His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

In a new documentary to mark 20 years of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), he said since the foundation was set up by His Majesty King Hamad, it has worked on several relief projects within Bahrain and abroad.

“To be honest, when His Majesty assigned me this task, my heart was filled with joy,” says Shaikh Nasser in the special video.

“He told me saying, Nasser, I need you to take responsibility of the RHF from now on.”

Shaikh Nasser said the foundation has worked on several internal development plans, including having emergency relief plans in place.

“If you compare the kingdom’s income and the donation you will surely know that Bahrain is the most generous country in the world,” said Shaikh Nasser, who is also RHF chairman.

Also featuring in the video is National Health Regulatory Authority chief executive Dr Maryam Al Jalahama who said that the watchdog determines the list of medicines that can be exported as aid to countries.

“We make sure that all the medicines meet the required specifications and temperature before the delivery process,” she says.

The video contains testimonies of beneficiaries including orphans who were supported medically, socially and emotionally by the RHF over the year.

RHF secretary general Dr Mustafa Al Sayed highlights how the foundation has grown over the years with several relief projects abroad, while in Bahrain it supports orphans, widows, provide medical care, scholarships and other assistance as part of the royal care.

In 2020, the RHF launched ‘Feena Khair’ (There is Good in Us) that helped several individuals, families including expatriates affected by the pandemic.
