Education Minister praises GPIC award-winning schools

Manama, Feb.8 (BNA): Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi honoured three schools which were declared winners of the GPIC environmental research award.

 

The Ministry of Education organized the 16th edition of the competition in cooperation with the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC).

 

Dr. Al Nuaimi received the principals of the schools which were declared winners of the 16th edition and congratulated them on their outstanding achievements.

 

He praised the pivotal role of GPIC in implementing this programme aimed at encouraging high school students to promote scientific research and exploring solutions to reduce environmental damage.

 

Al-Estiqlal Secondary Girls School in Muharraq was recognized for its project which consists in recycled scrap tires which can be used in stadium turf  and thermal insulation of floors.

 

Al Noor Secondary Girls School and Isa Town Secondary Girls’ Schools, which were also recognised for their projects which consist, respectively, in producing animal feed from palm frond residues to stimulate cow milk production and water treatment.

 

The other schools which were in the fray were: Khawla Girls’ Secondary School, Al Jabriya Boys’ Technical School, Hamad Town Girls’ Secondary School, Saad Girls’ Secondary School, Al Tadhamun Girls’ Secondary School, Hidd Girls’ Secondary School, Al Hedaya Al Khalifiya Boys’ Secondary School, Shaikh Khalifa Institute for Technology, and private Modern Knowledge School.
