Drive-through centre for Covid-19 test launched
A NEW drive-through facility for the public to get tested for Covid-19 has been inaugurated.
It is located within the integrated treatment centre at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) and was opened yesterday by Health Minister Faeqa Al Saleh.
The centre will facilitate the final testing process for individuals in self-isolation.
Individuals will have to book their appointments via the Be Aware Bahrain app three days before their self-isolation period is due to finish.
Upon driving through at the scheduled time, they can register at the counter. Subsequently, medics will collect their swab sample, while they are inside the car. The results will be available on the ministry’s website, which can be accessed using the CPR number.
“The facility is the result of the ministry’s continued efforts to mitigate the spread of Covid-19, including modernising and facilitating testing methods aimed at safeguarding citizens and residents,” said Ms Al Saleh in a statement.
“The services provided at drive-through testing centre will facilitate the final testing process for individuals in self-isolation.
“Individuals will have to book their appointments via the Be Aware App three days before their self-isolation period is due to finish.”
The centre will be open every day from 8am to 8pm.
The process, according to the ministry, will take five minutes on average, and the centre has eight stations designated for collecting health information and medical samples from individuals.
“The facility further supports the goals of Bahrain’s National Campaign to Combat Covid-19 and will contribute to its dedicated efforts to ensure the safety and health of the community,” added Ms Al Saleh.
She also commended the efforts of Team Bahrain, especially healthcare workers and volunteers who “have worked tirelessly to ensure the kingdom’s collective health is safeguarded”.
