Derasat to enhance scientific research programmes in cybersecurity
Manama, Jan. 22 (BNA): Dr. Hamad Ebrahim Al Abdullah, Executive Director of the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), chaired the first meeting of the Scientific Research Committee on Cybersecurity.
Dr. Al Abdullah, emphasised the importance of cooperation with national institutions to develop studies and exchange research expertise. He noted that these efforts contribute to solidifying Bahrain’s position as a leading global model in the field of cybersecurity.
The committee comprises experts and representatives from the National Cybersecurity Centre, the University of Bahrain, the Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain Polytechnic, and the Nasser Technical and Scientific Centre.
Dr. Al Abdullah underscored the Centre’s commitment to strengthening national research partnerships to support digital transformation and establish a knowledge-based society in a secure, reliable, and innovative cyber environment.
This aligns with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Dr. Al Abdullah added that the formation of the committee reflects a shared commitment to advancing scientific research by studying cybersecurity plans and challenges at the national, regional, and international levels.
The committee aims to explore opportunities for collaboration and develop actionable and measurable tools to support the implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy’s objectives related to research and development in the Kingdom.
He further highlighted the committee’s dedication to adopting a clear approach to addressing cybersecurity challenges from a scientific perspective, encouraging in-depth studies, collaborative research projects, intellectual and academic dialogues, seminars, and discussion forums.
These initiatives aim to enhance the culture of scientific research in cybersecurity within Bahrain.
