Crackdown on shops not abiding by Covid-19 rules

Legal action is being taken against a number of shops and outlets not abiding to rules aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19.

The Capital Governorate Security Directorate director-general said inspections are being conducted by the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry, the Health Ministry and the Capital Trustees Authority.

"We have to protect the community from the spread of the virus. Intensive inspections are being carried out with others concerned to help uncover violations and take necessary legal action," said a statement.

Shoppers not wearing face masks are also being issued fines.
