#Commit4Bahrain a success

“We have completed two weeks of #Commit4Bahrain and the number of infection has decreased, which shows the commitment was adhered to,” said Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Walid Al Manea.

“Continue until October 14 – this is important to reduce the infections further.

“Social distancing is important alongside all other precautionary measures.

“Legal action will be taken against violators.”

He was addressing a Press conference of the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (Covid-19) which was streamed live on the Health Ministry’s YouTube channel today.

Also present were Taskforce monitoring committee head Lt Col Dr Manaf Al Qahtani and
Taskforce member and Salmaniya Medical Complex Infectious and Internal Diseases consultant Dr Jameela Al Salman.

“The number of existing cases in March was 126, which increased to 3,356 in May and to 5,272 in June coinciding with the Eid Al Fitr – showing non-compliance with preventive measures.

“The number of existing cases decreased in July to 4,106 and further fell to 3,109 in August.

“Again due to negligence, by not adhering to the precautionary measures and the instructions issued especially post-Ashoora when the cases rose in September to reach 5,715.”
