Chamber plans bank of experts

Bahrain's top businessmen are in the process of setting up a ‘Bank of Experts’, it has been revealed.

Bahrain Chamber’s new ‘bank’ will comprise 3,000 experts drawn from all commercial and industrial sectors, its chairman Sameer Nass said yesterday.

The experts will offer advise on ways to improve its operations, prepare studies and give recommendations, he told the chamber’s consultative council during a meeting.

The ‘bank’ is one of 22 initiatives that the current board of directors had listed on their recent chamber’s elections programme.

The other major initiatives include holding workshops with the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry to discuss how to best implement the new bankruptcy law and avoid causing any harm to the national economy.

The chamber is also studying ways of controlling inflation and Mr Nass said it will submit its views and recommendations to the authorities.

First vice chairman Khalid Najibi stressed the importance of the special relations that bind Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

He mentioned that they are in contact with authorities to facilitate trade and remove obstacles that may hinder stronger relations.

Member and Akhbar Al Khaleej Editor-in-Chief Anwar Abdulrahman stressed the importance of the council and its role in discussing and overcoming the challenges that Bahraini businessmen face.
