Business Networking Luncheon with Mr. Khalid Al Rumaihi (CEO - EDB)

Manama: French and Bahraini economic relations were highlighted during a luncheon hosted by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bahrain (FCCIB).

The event was hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel, and featured a keynote speech by Economic Development Board (EDB) Chief Executive Khalid Al Rumaihi, who was guest of honour.

Mr. Al Rumaihi introduced EDB to the audience, highlighting its role to attract investment in order to support the economic development of the kingdom and create quality jobs. The EDB is focusing on five target sectors with strong incentives for investors and potential for growth. The sectors include: financial services, ICT, tourism, manufacturing, and logistics and transport.

“Bahrain and France have a long shared history, with trade between both countries dating back over 60 years. Trade now stands at $267million – up from around $200m in 2012.

“The kingdom is host to 71 companies with French partnerships in Bahrain and numerous other French enterprises in key sub-sectors, including aluminium, banking and hospitality services.

“We are proud of the existing relationship, and we are looking forward to seeing more French companies set up regional operations in Bahrain and to encourage further trade between the two countries.”

The event was attended by FCCIB members as well as officials and guests. The luncheon is one of the events that FCCIB holds throughout the year to develop relationships with business partners, exchange information and meet professional guest speakers.
