Building material prices drop

Prices of building materials have dropped by 15 per cent due to increasing competition and lack of projects at present, according to construction materials suppliers.

Steel prices fell to BD214 from BD250 a tonne, a cement bag BD1.5 from BD1.8, ready-mix BD30 from BD35, sand BD70 from BD90 per sqm, ready-made ceilings BD7 from BD9 and 100 concrete blocks BD27 from BD30 (270 fils per brick).

Wood prices are stable and depend on quality as they are imported from several countries, such as China, India, Turkey, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
