Building for the future
Manama: An advanced road network is vital to strengthen economic productivity, says the Crown Prince Prime Minister.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa was visiting the interchange at Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway and Isa Bin Salman Highway to mark its official opening.
It is one of Bahrain’s key infrastructure projects that will expand the kingdom’s main road network and is key to develop first-class infrastructure.
Later, he was briefed by Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, who also chairs a ministerial committee for development projects and infrastructure, on the interchange, at Riffa Palace.
The interchange will increase traffic safety at the intersection and increase vehicle capacity per hour from 900 to 3,600 – an aggregate daily increase of 173,000 and an aggregate hourly increase of 11,000.
Shaikh Khalid noted the project includes the construction of an overpass with two lanes to increase traffic flow between North Manama, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway, and Riffa and Isa Town East via Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway.
Present were Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf.
