BHB takes part in ePAY Summit

MANAMA: Bahrain Bourse (BHB) participated as partner in the third GCC E-Payments and Online Banking Summit held virtually under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain.

BHB chairman Abdulkarim Bucheery was also the chairman of the conference, which was attended by more than 900 leading players within banking, fintech, e-commerce, retail and telecom enterprises.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, chief executive of BHB, said, “The GCC payments landscape has revolved significantly in the past couple of years driven by the growing awareness of consumer experience and rapid developments in the payment industry. The Covid-19 pandemic this year had a great impact on the payments industry, but at the same time facilitated a range of financial and banking transactions to open opportunities for further growth and innovation.”

The ePAY Summit covered various topics including the increase of digital and contactless transactions since Covid-19, private digital currencies vs. central bank backed digital currencies, the rise of AI in payments, alternative payment method trends shaping future e-commerce in the GCC, and new approaches in online and mobile fraud detection and prevention.
