Basrec wins quality certification

MANAMA: Bahrain Ship Repairing and Engineering Company (Basrec) has received Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) certification of ISO 45001:2018 for the shipyard’s integrated management system.

The certification attests to the company meeting the requirements of quality of service as well as the latest health and safety standards.

The certification complements Basrec’s well-articulated strategy to provide high-quality and customised services.

The achievement is the reflection of a proactive approach in turning the prevailing Covid-19 risk environment into an opportunity through a five-day rigorous video conference with Lloyd’s team from GCC.

This has opened another chapter of successful online auditing.

Subsequently, Basrec’s quality assurance management achieved another successful surveillance audit through video conference in this pandemic situation.

The company’s integrated management system is also certified in accordance with ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 14001: 2015 requirements.

The system describes the process of monitoring and recording performance to provide data for continuous improvement.

The business excellence and quality assurance functions are centralised and fully autonomous, which ensure that products and services are delivered to consistent quality standards, which are not compromised.

The objectives are set in line with strategic goals.

Continuous assessment and audits identify opportunities for improving the product realisation process and the quality management system.

The ISO 45001 certification process requires that the company have a quality management system, quality manual, and adequate performance documentation processes and procedures related to health and safety with employee consultation and continuous improvement policy.

This includes performing and documenting an internal audit and management review in accordance with the standard.

Besides this, Basrec has ISO 9001: 2015 for quality certificate of authorisation, ISO 14001: 2015 certificates for environment.
