Bapco project continues without lost time

Work on-site at the Bapco Modernisation Programme (BMP) has not stopped for a single day since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the globe in early 2020.

This was highlighted during the latest management meeting with the project’s EPC contractor TTSJV partner sponsors and chief executives held at Bapco’s premises in Awali.

The meeting was attended by Bapco chairman and chief executive Dr Dawood Nassif, chief operating officer Marco Villa and Technip Energies fellow executive project director Alfonso Di Mario, Técnicas Reunidas deputy chief executive and corporate general director Miguel Paradinas, and Samsung Engineering president and chief executive Sungan Choi.

During the meeting, the progress of various project related activities was reviewed, and the chief executives/sponsors gave their directives on further developments.

Following the meeting, a site tour was carried where the CEOs/Sponsors have witnessed the overall progress of the project and expressed their appreciation to the workforce for continuing work through the pandemic.

The dramatic change in the refinery skyline with the installation of the majority of the equipment was evident to all, they noted.

Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador Miyamoto Masayuki visited Dr Nassif in his office to discuss a number of issues of mutual interest and means of boosting joint cooperation in the future.

Also present during the meeting was Matsubara Kenji, the first secretary for economic, cultural and public relations affairs in the Japanese embassy.
