Bahrain's position highlighted for hosting 146th IPU Assembly
Manama, Mar. 12 (BNA): Parliament delegations participating in the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), hosted by Bahrain, said that the meetings reflect the Kingdom's position internationally.
The general theme of the 146th IPU Assembly is "Promoting peaceful coexistence and inclusive societies: Fighting intolerance".
Shura Council First Deputy Chairman Jamal Fakhro said that the IPU is an important parliamentary event that would highlight Bahrain's position politically and democratically.
Member of the UAE Federal National Council Ali Al Noaimi said that many Speakers are convening in Bahrain for the IPU, which confirms the appreciation of their countries of the Kingdom and their keenness to ensure the success of the global event.
He added that the current Assembly addresses the issue of coexistence, which is an important theme especially since the world is in need to promote coexistence, peace and security, and to prevent conflicts.
Palestinian National Council Deputy Chairman Musa Hadid expressed his pleasure with the support in the Kingdom in discussing the Palestinian issue.
MP Dr. Wihda Mahmoud Jumeili from the Iraqi Council of Representative affirmed that the assembly is an important event for all Arabs.
She said that Arab issues must be unified and our countries must adopt the provisions of peaceful coexistence, combating extremism and violence, and promoting peace.
