Bahrain wins bid to host 2024 IWF World Championship

Havana, June 13 (BNA): Bahrain has won the bid to host the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championship.


Bahrain was granted the rights to host the global event after winning the majority of votes during the meeting of IWF Executive Board, held here today, in the presence of the Bahrain Weightlifting Federation President, Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq.


The kingdom's delegation welcomed holding the new edition of the IWF World Championship in Bahrain, noting that it will consolidate the country's status and confirm its distinguished reputation as a destination for mega international sporting events.


Commenting, IWF President affirmed that the historical vote in favour of Bahrain's bid embodies IWF's confidence in the Bahrain Weightlifting Federation, and confirms the kingdom's good reputation as successful hosts of various international championships and events.


He indicated that the Bahrain Weightlifting Federation is keen to put in place all success requirement for the global weightlifting championship.
