Bahrain vows support for initiatives on peace and security

Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has stressed Bahrain’s commitment to support regional and global initiatives to establish international peace and security and reinforce peaceful dialogue, openness and communication among peoples’ representatives.

He added that His Majesty King Hamad’s democratic and civilised approach is based on justice, equality, respect for human rights and serving development goals.

He made the statements while receiving the heads of delegations to the two-day meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development at the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), being hosted by Bahrain from today.

He praised the legislature’s success in establishing strong relations with councils and the parliamentary organisations, both regionally and internationally.

He noted the importance of the topics on the agenda of the meeting of APA’s standing committee, as they represent priorities in both the Government Action Plan, and the work of the legislature.

He congratulated MP Ahmed Al Salloum on his re-election as APA vice-president and APA’s standing committee chairman, wishing him continued success.

Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh and Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam praised the unwavering support of the King and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the legislative branch, expressing pride in the kingdom’s landmark democratic and parliamentary achievements.

They expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Premier for the government’s keenness to enhance executive-legislature co-operation in all fields to optimise the gains of the nation and the citizens.

They affirmed that Bahrain’s hosting of the meeting of APA’s standing committee reflects its distinguished capabilities, which entitles it to be the prestigious centre for regional and global conferences, meetings and events.
