Bahrain submit national urban plan report to UN, Housing minister

: Housing Minister Basem bin Yacoub Al Hamer affirmed that the Kingdom is one of the first GCC countries to submit the second voluntary national report in implementing the new urban plan through the United Nations (UN) electronic platform.

 

The report included the latest information and data related to government efforts and achievements in achieving the sustainable development goals. It contained updated information, data and reports issued by 33 government organizations within a joint work system with the Ministry of Housing.

 

Bahrain was among the first countries to submit the second voluntary national report out of the 195 member states of the UN Human Settlements Program (Habitat), and the fourth in the Arab region.

 

The minister said that the report included an opening speech by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in which he praised the efforts made to achieve more progress in implementing the new urban plan that is part of the government's program to achieve economic growth, raise human development rates and apply the principles of sustainability, competitiveness and justice in accordance with the Economic Vision 2030.

 

The report will be reviewed at a meeting at UN Headquarters in New York in April 2022.
