Bahrain participates in United Nations Leadership Dialogue meeting

Manama, Feb. 21 (BNA): Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dainah, took part in the 5th virtual United Nations Leadership Dialogue meeting. He praised the efforts of the United Nations Environment Organisation in backing sustainable development all over the world, stressing keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain, through its membership in the organisation’s office, on supporting the international efforts to promote environmental work.

Dr. bin Dainah said the Kingdom of Bahrain has explicitly and clearly incorporated the environmental goals in the strategic and operational plans, as part of the government’s action plan and development projects. He noted that the SCE has made tangible progress in various environmental areas, including industrial and health waste management.

Dr. bin Dainah pointed out that the exceptional circumstances resulting from the coronavirus pandemic and the virus outbreak in the world have negatively affected progress of some environmental initiatives and projects in many countries. However, he said, with determination and solidarity between countries, the march will continue under the support of the UN organization. He called on the countries participating in the meeting to continue boosting environmental cooperation to attain goals and overcome challenges facing human beings and the environment.
