Bahrain participates in GCC eGovernment Executive Committee meeting

Riyadh, Nov. 17 (BNA): Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed participated in the 24th GCC eGovernment Executive Committee meeting.

 

The committee discussed the Secretariat’s report on the items implemented among previous decisions and the progress of GCC eGovernment initiatives, including joint projects in line with GCC strategies.

 

The meeting covered the ongoing cooperation between the Secretariat Generals of the GCC and of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), whose current session is chaired by the Kingdom.

 

The committee also approved the revamped website for the GCC ePortal, scheduled to launch at the next Ministerial Committee meeting.

 

The members reviewed the progress of the GCC eGovernment Strategy Guide, which included a discussion on communication plans with relevant entities and stakeholders to raise awareness of eServices and the Strategy Guide.

 

The meeting also discussed the eServices' implementation by the GCC joint technical team.

 

The Bahraini delegation highlighted the latest developments of the joint GCC eServices initiative and presented its periodical report on the GCC eGovernment Strategy Guide to boost cooperation and electronic integration, help achieve sustainability, and promote competitiveness in eGovernance between the Gulf countries, regionally and internationally.

 

The Committee approved Bahrain’s submission in this regard.

 

The Committee discussed recommendations submitted by the heads and judges of the GCC Supreme and Cassation Courts regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in judicial systems, which included the formation of a GCC Charter detailing the ethics of using these technologies in line with social and moral values in the region.
