Bahrain, France reiterate commitment to closer ties, broader cooperation

Manama, July 14 (BNA): The French Ambassador to Bahrain Jérôme Cauchard has highlighted the long-standing solid and friendly relations between Manama and Paris and hailed the recent phone conversation between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President Emmanuel Macron as “another opportunity to strengthen Bahrain-France links and develop joint action.”

“Relations between Bahrain and France are of high quality and we are working to further develop and strengthen it.

The telephone conversation on July 9 between the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is a shining illustration of this high quality,” the ambassador said in a video message to the French community and Bahraini friends on the French National Day (Bastille Day).

Ambassador Cauchard, who celebrates his first Bastille Day in Bahrain after taking office in October 2019, also highlighted the common determination to bolster cooperation in the fields of business, education, culture, sport …

The French diplomat stressed the significance of solidarity during the pandemic and paid tribute “to the victims of the pandemic, to their families and also to those who have been committed, courageously, in the fight against the virus, especially in providing care for the sick.”

In his message, the diplomat pointed out to the special meaning of the French National Day and how it reminds all French citizens and all the Friends of France of the French heritage, values and long history.

“It is also an opportunity to underline the French commitment to European integration and belonging to the European culture,” he said.

In his video message, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, said he was pleased to convey his “sincere congratulations and blessings to the friendly Government and people of France on the occasion of the National Day of the French Republic with which the Kingdom of Bahrain maintains close friendship and cooperation in several fields.”

It is an exemplary model of relations between countries and peoples that are developing towards wider horizons of cooperation under the great attention and care of HM King Hamad and President Macron, he said.

“We in the Kingdom of Bahrain are proud of the quality of cooperation and partnership relations with this friendly country, which embodies ancient civilization, sophisticated culture and modern development,” the minister said.

“We greatly appreciate the active and constructive role played by the French Government and the positive contribution it has made to the preservation of regional and international security and stability, and we are always striving to strengthen bilateral cooperation relations with the French Republic, serving the common interests of both countries and friendly peoples.”

Al Zayani paid tribute to Ambassador Cauchard and the members of the embassy to strengthen and develop cooperation and communication between the two countries.

“I commend the French community and the tangible efforts it has made to strengthen the longest relationship between the two friendly countries, and I wish the French people further progress and prosperity,” he said.
