Bahrain exports national products worth $2.98 billion
Bahrain’s national origin exports amounted to BD1.121 billion ($2.98bn) during the fourth quarter of 2022, decreasing by six per cent in value when compared with BD1.192bn for the same quarter of 2021, shows the latest data from the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).
The report, which also includes data on balance of trade, imports and re-exports, says the top 10 trading partners accounted for 73pc of the total national origin export value last month with the remaining 27pc claimed by other countries.
Saudi Arabia ranked first among countries receiving Bahraini exports of national origin, accounting for a value of BD261 million, followed by the UAE with BD126m and the US with BD110m.
Unwrought aluminium alloys emerged as the top product exported during the quarter with BD325m. Agglomerated iron ores and concentrates were second with a value of BD177m and unwrought aluminium not alloyed was third with BD83m.
The iGA found that the value of re-exports increased by 29pc to BD200m in Q4-2022 compared with BD155m in Q4-2021, with the top 10 trading partners accounting for 88pc of the re-exported value.
Saudi Arabia was the leading market for re-exports accounting for a value of BD45m, followed by the UAE with BD41m and Singapore coming third with BD30m.
Parts for airplanes emerged as the top product re-exported from Bahrain with a value of BD44m, followed by wristwatches made of nonprecious metal netting BD13m and gold ingots in third place with BD9m.
The report said the value of imports increased by 0.3pc to BD1.41bn during the last quarter of 2022 compared with BD1.41bn in the same quarter of 2021 with the top 10 trading partners accounting for 69pc of total import value.
According to the report, China was ranked as the top exporter to Bahrain with BD183m, followed by the UAE with BD133m and Brazil in third place with BD131m.
Non-agglomerated iron ores and concentrates emerged as the top product imported into Bahrain with a value of BD153m while aluminium oxide was second with BD97m and gold ingots in third place with BD47m.
The trade balance, or the difference between exports and imports, showed a 50pc increase in the value of the deficit totalling BD88m during Q4-2022 when compared with BD59m for the same quarter of 2021.
