Bahrain backs global green push

Bahrain will back all global efforts to protect the Earth from the effects of climate change, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Supreme Council for Environment chief executive Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dainah has said.

He urged regional and international co-operation to achieve tangible progress in weathering the pitfalls of climate change.

He was speaking during a preparatory ministerial meeting hosted by the Cyprus in Nicosia.

Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades was present at the meeting along with a number of environment and climate ministers and representatives from the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East countries.

The meeting is a prelude to a summit of heads of states on the Middle East Climate Change Initiative to be held in October in Cyprus.
