Bahrain airport gearing up for holiday travel rush
BAHRAIN’S airport is gearing up to welcome an influx of travellers during the summer vacation period and the Haj season which is expected to begin later this month.
A high-level meeting was held yesterday between key Bahrain International Airport (BIA) stakeholders to review the preparations.
The meeting was organised by the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operating and managing body of the airport.
“In 2022, BIA welcomed 6.9 million passengers, a 127.5 per cent jump from 3m in 2021,” said BAC airport operation chief Ali Rashid.
“This points to an even stronger recovery in 2023.
“Summer is one of the busiest periods for BIA, with scores of passengers travelling to and from Bahrain.
“Working closely with our investors, we have finalised all preparations to welcome them and ensure they enjoy a safe, seamless and hassle-free travel experience.”
In a joint statement, BIA stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to providing the highest levels of service, by increasing the number of staff at the airport.
