BAC to host key forum at Bahrain air show

MANAMA: Senior decision-makers from leading regional airlines and airports will come together to discuss the impact of digital technology on airports, ongoing efforts to develop the Gulf as a tourism destination, and numerous other issues shaping the region’s aviation sector at this year’s Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) Airport Conference.

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) is hosting the event under the patronage of Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal Ahmed.

Titled ‘Into the Future: Challenges and Opportunities for Gulf Region Airports and Airlines’, it will be held next Thursday at the Farnborough International News Network Theatre in the BIAS Exhibition Hall.

The panellists are BAC chief executive Mohamed Al Binfalah; Oman Airports Management Company CEO Aimen bin Ahmed Al Hosni; Boeing Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey president Bernard Dunn and Abu Dhabi Airports CEO Bryan Thompson.

Professor Rigas Doganis, a leading aviation consultant and strategic adviser to a number of airlines, airports, banks and governments, will moderate the event.

The conference aims to provide valuable insights into ongoing airport expansion projects, new technologies aimed at streamlining efficiency, the threat long-haul low-cost airlines pose to Gulf carriers, and the potential for Middle East hubs to become gateways to Africa.

“Bahrain International Airport’s transformation through the Airport Modernisation Programme makes the kingdom a fitting venue to host the conference,” said Mr Al Binfalah.

“The new terminal will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to enhance efficiency, improve security, and meet passengers’ growing expectations for a more seamless airport experience. In addition, BAC and its partners are working to develop new routes out of BIA, which will help enhance tourism, trade, bilateral relations, and increase the aviation sector’s contribution to the national economy in line with Vision 2030.”
